From a model to a reusable effect
2VFX is a browser-based VFX editor for game developers and technical artists. Explore 50 procedural presets in the live gallery, change their colors and motion, then continue in the editor. Model import and cloud projects work with the collection. The original fire, smoke and spark workflows also include sprite generation and native Unity export; complete Unity transfer of the new sculpted layers is still being developed.
- Choose a live effect in the gallery, orbit around it and try its art-direction controls.
- Open it in the editor and optionally import a self-contained GLB, FBX or OBJ model.
- Fine-tune the look and supported particle modules, or let your agent update the same project through its scoped API.
- Save online to retain the effect. Check the export support notice before moving a composition into Unity.
Useful outputs, without a locked project format
A sprite sheet stores a sequence of animation frames in one image. Use it for compact 2D effects or camera-facing effects in a 3D scene. A native particle system keeps emitter parameters editable in the engine instead.
The .2vfx file is a ZIP archive with a versioned JSON manifest and its model, image and audio assets. It preserves authoring data separately from Unity-specific output. Imported assets retain their original licenses.
- PNG: 16 generated frames in a transparent 512×512 atlas.
- WAV: a locally generated sound layer that you can replace.
- .2vfx: particle modules, resources and checksums in an open archive.
- Unity .tgz: scripts, materials, source assets and a prefab builder.
Know what is supported before you export
The current target is Unity 6.3 with the Built-in Render Pipeline. GLB needs a compatible glTF importer inside Unity. FBX and OBJ use Unity’s model-import path; separate texture and MTL sidecars are not resolved by the browser importer.
Native Semantic exports editable ParticleSystem settings. Baked Visual exports a flipbook-driven effect and requires an atlas. The browser and Unity native simulations differ, so an identical seed does not guarantee identical pixels. Module labels identify browser-previewed subsets, Unity-only settings and unavailable scene-object references.
Prompt-to-VFX AI generation, native Unreal/Niagara export, URP and HDRP packages are not available in this prototype. We are testing whether the supported workflows are useful before expanding the service.
